about

Almada has always had a strong connection to the riverbank of the Tagus. Water has been generating changes for centuries. It sparked the first shipbuilding yards and other enterprises and also washed them away. The skeletons and pieces of the flourishing economy are scattered along the river. They became witnesses of all these processes — decay and rebirth that is happening now. The objects found along the river are not just leftovers, they are carriers of stories from the past. Through “interviews" with a contact microphone, Margarita repurposed unattractive waste into a concert. This is accompanied by the sound of Tagus’ water and wind. The concert shows a unique perspective on trash and gives these unwanted pieces a new economical value in the form of an audio cassette and a digital album.
